and the mystery of Clarence Reno

Church in the Wildwood, no. 213 seems to be missing from Grandma Pearl's Hymnal

but I found the same song in Grandma Betty's prayer book!!!!

Way in the back of Grandma Pearl's Hymn Book is another mystery...

Who is "Clarence Reno"?

It's written like that, even in quotes.

What on earth was Grandma Pearl trying to tell us?

Maybe it's someone she adopted, because "Sherry Lynn" and "Johnny Ross" are the other names written there in the same way.

Apparently...Paul...that's Paul Kughn who was married to Betty June after Betty was a Wilson and a McVicker and a Candy.  Paul was the real Dad of Gail and Paula...and apparently that real Dad never knew about Johnny, at all.

But Mama did and claimed him as brother, for life.  Johnny Ross Candy.

I think Mama said Johnny was sent to live with some of his grandparents but I don't know which ones yet.

In fact, just the other day, I heard an update.  Johnny's doing well.  He's also done sculpture and crafting...things like water fountains and tables made out of logs.

Both Mama and Johnny seem to have inherited an artistic talent for working with wood.

Seems like if Pearl adopted Clarence Reno too, we'd know about it.

But Pearl did have things she wouldn't talk about.
